Introduction

In today's article, we'll explore Galarian Slowking VMax, a Pokémon many underestimate and very few remember. However, it has a lot of potential, particularly if you get the most out of its Poison mechanic. In Expanded, this Pokémon can definitely stand out and show your opponents how dangerous it can be.

Scarlet & Violet brought significant support for Galarian Slowking VMax, and that's precisely what we'll discuss today. Let's see how these upgrades impact this deck, and how it works!

Galarian Slowking V & Galarian Slowking VMax: The Main Attacker

Galarian Slowking V

Let's start with its V base form, Galarian Slowking V CRE 99. It has two incredibly efficient attacks.

Its first attack, Concoction, lets you discard one card in your hand to draw three.

Here are a few strategies you can use with this attack:

1) You can discard a Basic Darkness Energy SFA 98 and then use Dark Patch ASR 139.

2) You can discard Darkrai-GX BUS 88 and activate its ability, which lets you put it in your bench and attach a Basic Darkness Energy SFA 98 to it if it is in your discard pile. You can then transfer this energy to other Pokémon with Weavile-GX UNM 132's ability.

Its second attack, Word of Ruin, has a devastating effect: at the end of your opponent's turn, their active Pokémon will be Knocked Out!

About Galarian Slowking VMax

Its VMax form, Galarian Slowking, stands out because of its attack, Max Toxify, which deals 10 damage and Poisons the enemy Pokémon. The most significant difference, however, is that, in-between turns, you'll put 12 Poison counters on that Pokémon instead of 1, which is 120 damage!

Recursive Pokémon

Relicanth and Its Synergy with Galarian Slowking V & VMax

Relicanth is essential for this deck because its ability, Memory Dive, lets evolved Pokémon use attacks of its previous forms. So, Galarian Slowking VMAX CRE 100 can copy Galarian Slowking V CRE 99's attacks, including Word of Ruin. This way, you won't have to rely on Max Toxify. This is useful against opponents that use "Amnesia" attacks to block specific Pokémon attacks.

Darkrai-GX BUS 88's ability, Restoration, lets you put it in play directly from the discard pile, and attach one energy to it.

Weavile-GX UNM 132 lets you transfer energies between Pokémon.

Hoopa-GX TEU 96 lets you get specific cards from your deck.

Crobat V PR-SW SWSH110 draws cards.

Pecharunt ex SFA 39 lets you move Darkness Pokémon on your board and combos with Binding Mochi SFA 55.

Binding Mochi SFA 55 will get this card for you, and, in turn, this card buffs the damage you deal with Poisoned Pokémon. This way, Pecharunt ex SFA 39's combo will be even more powerful.

This card lets you put two more damage counters on Poisoned Pokémon in-between check-in phases, so it's excellent with the combo including Galarian Slowking VMAX CRE 100's attack, Max Toxify, and Radiant Hisuian Sneasler LOR 123's ability. You'll have two more counters to put on enemy Pokémon, so you can put up to 16 damage counters in-between turns!

Pros and Cons

Pros

It is efficient against Psychic decks, and Pokémon that don't deal with Poison well.

Cons

It struggles against Fighting decks (like Machamp VMax), Pokémon that prevent special conditions, like Virizion V PR-SW SWSH295, immunity tools, like Big Parasol DAA 157, Mewtwo VUnion, and Arceus & Dialga & Palkia TAG TEAM-GX.

Final Words

This deck will surprise your opponent by dealing a lot of damage in-between turns. It is an excellent pick for anyone who enjoys special conditions.
