The collaboration between Magic: The Gathering and Final Fantasy, scheduled for release on June 13, 2025, has already become the best-selling set in the game's history, even before it hits shelves. The information was revealed by Hasbro CEO, Chris Cox*, during a conference call with investors, highlighting the success of the partnership with Square Enix and the positive impact on the company's finances.
In Q1 2025, Hasbro reported a 17% revenue increase to $887.1 million. This growth was primarily driven by the Wizards of the Coast and Digital Games division, which saw revenue increase 46% to $462 million. Specifically, Magic: The Gathering saw 45% revenue growth, reflecting the game’s continued success in both physical versions and on the digital Arena platform.
CEO Chris Cox commented on the company's strategy:
“Hasbro’s Playing to Win strategy is delivering in a challenging environment. We’re outperforming today and building for tomorrow through disciplined execution, standout partnerships like our extended Disney agreement, and future-focused bets that are already paying off”

Additionally, Magic’s production is largely in the United States, with some operations in Japan and Europe—regions less affected by the tariffs—which helps the company mitigate the effects of the recently imposed trade tariffs. Cox emphasized that Wizards of the Coast’s only significant import from China is Dungeons & Dragons sets, which are subject to the tariffs.

Collaboration with Final Fantasy is part of the Universes Beyond line of Magic: The Gathering, which integrates iconic characters and settings from other franchises into the game's universe. The set will include decks designed for the Commander format and a wide range of products, including Booster Packs, Starter Kits and Bundles, appealing to both longtime fans and new players.
